Hi group!
If you have the time and share the interest, Google Prison Riots looking for news accounts of recent riots and the perspective presented by journalists as to the conditions of the prisons.  For this portion of the discussion, since we are merely gathering basic information from which to draw our conclusions, Wikipedia is allowed.  When you locate some potentially interesting articles, examine the content closely to determine whether any common themes exist.  I look forward to reading your posts.
Here’s a partial list of prison riots

When prison riots occur it does have a devastating impact on the prison, staff and the inmates themselves.
The Pelican Bay Prison riot happened on 2-24-2000 at Crescent City, Del Norte County where guards at that prison fatally show one inmate and wounded 12 others to quell a riot involving. scores of black and Latino inmates armed with crudely made knives.  The brawl involved 200 inmates that erupted in the exercise yard of the maximum security prison that holds some of California's most dangerous and incorrigible prisoners. It was not known what caused the violence.

Prison riots can be caused by many different things, but riots usually meant to force change with the prison or express grievances.  Some common causes of prison riots are poor responses or no responses to inmate complaints and requests, or other unmet inmate needs.

      Hello Ms. Oswald,
My name is Rachel. This post is informative. How may I ask did you come across this
new article? What lead you to the website link? Are there any corresponding articles related to the topic that you found, but instead from the DeVry University library of publications?
In response to this particular discussion post I have become inspired to review the same exact topic and here's the results:
      • "Pelican Bay State Prison, located outside Crescent City, California, is the state’s most secure facility available, housing the area’s most serious male criminal offenders"(Steiner, 2005).
      • Riots at Pelican Bay Prison were allegedly due to "Latino and White inmates coupled together against the Black inmates" which resulted in nearly 200 inmate injuries inclusive of gunfire wounds, unfortunately (NPR, 2000).
