1.    Conjugal Visits are extremely important for inmates, but the entire topic is rather confusing as if
one would wonder how many privileges folks in the corrections system get to gain
encounters with another human legally as husband and wife for the punishment of
killing someone, or burning someone's house down, or kidnapping a woman's children, or better yet
to even hold a conversation with other humans. Actually the issue of conjugal visits is wonderful in allowing persons to give hope to an offender to 'hang' in there, but what about the victim who is missing his legs or hands that are needed to work, hold a purse, put shoes on, and count money? Hmmm...I have a great prison system blueprint available and may write a publication about it before the topic wears off. Understaffed, underfed, dirty cells, rusty vents, bedbugs, mosquitos, racism, bias, crazy people with general inmate housing utilizing razor blades to slice another inmate's neck in a small area to frame them for murder, prostitution of inmates, homosexuality, guard rape upon male inmates, lesbianism upon heterosexuals, no phone or communication, no reading materials, illegal tortuous lockdowns, starvation of pregnant inmates, illegal gassing of solitary confinement inmates, drugs in food to cause seizures, lack of oxygen for prison ward inmates, miscarriages, anal rape of females with eating utensils, guard rape and molestation of female inmates, and stalking of released inmates by prison guards who are so miserable they think their in relationships and marriages with abused inmates which manipulates the offenders' ability to get released as scheduled, conduct visits, guards controlling phone calls to family, guards rejecting visits, etc. The prison guards need serious mental health or to seek out a new career working for the local eHarmony company to market themselves for a marital relationship instead of anal rape of other people's family members that is a violation of federal law itself.

I agree Professor that although the idea of reentry is a great one, depending on the level of monitoring required for prisoners released back into society the vast options aren't necessarily considered as an actual downfall or 'relapse' for those who are in need of positive and frequent reinforcement. Just house arrest with complete freedom doesn't protect the offender from offending and re-entering the prison system shortly thereafter before completing the initial community-centered program first.
